These fall 2023 Beginner 1 lessons have concluded.
The next set of five lessons will begin on January 20, 2024. The lessons are on Saturday mornings and start at 9:30 am and run until 12:30 pm.
Beginners 1 provides a hands-on introduction to the game of duplicate bridge, including basic scoring, basic bidding, and basic play of the hand. The third and fourth lessons focus on no trump bidding, while the fifth lesson concentrates on weak two bids.
The price is $85 and includes the cost of the text.
Beginners Part 2
The Fall Beginners 2 lessons are underway.
The next set of lessons will start on Saturday, March 9, 2024 and run for five weeks ending on April 6. The lessons are from 9:30 am until 12:30 pm.
Beginners 2 is a continuation of Beginners 1. All concepts are reviewed and reinforced. Bidding is emphasized, including take-out doubles and responses and ace-asking conventions. The principles of declaring no trump and suit contracts will be covered.
The cost is $75 for the students who have already purchased the text for Beginners 1 (the same text is used for all ten lessons). The price for Beginner 2 students who lack the text is $85.
This one-day session is normally offered two or three times a year. The next workshop will be offered on January 13, 2024 in the teaching room of our club at 2481 Kingsway Drive in Kitchener.
You’ll nail the basics of bridge in this interactive class that has both instruction and coached play. If you’re just starting, returning to the game or wanting to “test the waters” before taking formal lessons, this workshop is for you.
In just four hours, students will become confident with basic bidding, scoring, and the mechanics of play. Included in your registration is a 35-page student manual which walks beginning students through the history, mechanics, scoring, beginning bidding, and theory of bridge. The handouts include seven practice exercises and four practice hands for the students.
Your instructor is someone who plays bridge regularly and is fully committed to helping you learn and enjoy your day. By the end of the workshop, you will have learned some of the basics of the game.
